FREE Giveaway Handmade boy doll

This is my version of a boy doll.  I'm still working on perfecting him. But just like in real life, my dolls will be a work in progress.  I put the bible verse on the front of the doll this time.  It is "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."  Romas 15:13

Do you like the doll?  If you have a child or you know of a child that would love this doll, leave me a comment and I will raffle it off.  Tell me what is your favorite bible verse.

Here is "Joshua" with "Cassie" hanging out together.  Cassie will be staying with us.  Joshua is ready to be loved by a special little boy or girl.

Handmade doll to spread God's word

Recently, I have been thinking a lot about how I can use the gifts God has given me to share His word.  There are many wonderful websites/blogs that showcase many handmade items and since I love to sew, I decided to make handmade dolls with bible verses on them.  This is not my original idea.  I want to give credit to an awesome blog http://www.babybeblesseddolls.com/ that has beautiful handmade dolls with bible verses.  I also want to be able to minister to children and share God's promises and encouragement.  My doll is certainly not perfect and still needs a lot of work.  My doll is made from different patterns I have put together to make it my own.

Here is the back of the doll.  I am not sure if I will keep the verses in the back or move to the front.  I'm still experimenting.  I was planning on giving this doll away, but somehow I got a little attached.  Besides, her stitches are not perfect and although it is handmade, I want to make sure it will be loved by a little girl or boy.

Craft Fair

I participated in my first craft fair for our church's Women's Christmas Brunch & Craft Boutique. We had an awesome speaker, Catherine Martin who is the Founder and President of Quiet Time Ministries.  Although I didn't sell much, I had a great time with my daughter who attended with me.  All is not lost though, we now have many handmade gifts ready to be given to my very large extended family.

Pillowcases for ConKerr Cancer

The girl scouts had a great time putting together their material to sew pillowcases.  Unfortunately, there was not enough time to complete sewing them in our meeting.  We will continue sewing our pillowcases at our next meeting and hope to complete eleven.

Coastal Clean-up

September 25, 2010 is "Coastal Clean-up Day" and everyone is invited to help clean-up our beaches.  So, if you haven't signed-up to help out, go visit http://www.cleanupday.org/ for registration and more information.  I'm taking our girl scout troop to help clean-up Imperial Beach this year.  Last year, I went with my oldest daughter's troop and we had a great time.  You won't believe the things we found in the beach.

Let's do our part to help clean-up our area beaches!  The girl scouts also earn a very cute seagull  patch for their vest.

Back to School

There are many messenger bag tutorials in blogland, but I found a great tutorial over at http://www.mmmcrafts.blogspot.com/  I made the messenger bag for my oldest daughter and she uses it for school practically everyday.  She stuffs it with her books, wallet and lunch and it has not fallen apart.  She has had it for over a year now.  This is her bag:

Since I am homeschooling my youngest daughter this year, I wanted to make her a very special bag to keep
her own notebooks and school stuff.  She picked out this very cute elephant fabric.
